Steiff 1908 Replica Bear

This bear is part of the Steiff Vintage Series and the original was made in 1908 where he was introduced to the buyer at the famous store, Harrods. In those days the the buyer at Harrods was not taken with a blue bear. However, it was precisely the colour of the fur that made the bear world famous at an auction at Christie's in 1993. Here the original bear found a new owner who paid the incredible sum of £49,500! This replica has been beautifully crafted and like the original bear is stuffed with wood wool and its vintage look has been achieved by carefully thinning the mohair and adding subtle airbrushing which makes the bear appear naturally older. It looks as if the bear has already been cuddled and stroked by many loving hands. Fully jointed with big black boot-button eyes and hand embroidered mouth and nose. He also has a white label with black writing together with an 'underscored button' in his ear which is made of patinated steel - just as it would have been in 1908. He has a growler inside and is limited to only 1,908 (the year of his birth) worldwide. Comes boxed with his own certificate of authenticity.
